This step by step diy woodworking project is about2×4 raised garden bedplans. I continue my series of projects from 2x4s with this super simple garden bed. I have designed this garden bed so you keep the costs as low as possible. If you afford, choose weather resistant lumber and your garden bed will last for ages. Assembling-the-frames

The first step of the project is to build the frames for the raised garden bed. Therefore, you need to cut the components from 2x4s at 48″ and 69″. Align the edges with attention, making sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the 48″ long components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components.

Assembling the raised garden box

Build 4 frames in total and then stack them one on top of the other, as shown in the plans. Make sure the edges are aligned and leave no gaps between them. It is essential to stack the frames on a level surface, from the very beginning.

Fitting the supports to the ends

Next, attach the 2×4 supports to the ends of the raised garden bed. Center the supports to the panels and clamp them into place. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to secure them into place tightly.

Fitting-the-side-supports

Fit the supports to the sides of the garden bed, in the same manner described above.

Fitting the top trims

Use 2×4 lumber for the top trims. Use a miter saw to to make the 45 degree cuts to both ends of the trims. Align and secure the trims into place with 2 1/2″ screws.

Assembling-the-supports-for-the-seat

Use 2×4 lumber for the seat supports. Use a miter saw to make the 45 degree cuts. Align and assemble everything with 2 1/2″ screws.

Fitting the seat supports

Fit the supports to sides of the garden bed. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the supports into place.

Fitting the seat slats

Fit the 2×4 slats to the supports to create the bench seat. Center the slats, drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them to the supports.

DIY Raised Garden Bed made from 2x4s Plans

Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the rough surfaces with sandpaper. Staple landscaping fabric inside the planter, so you protect the wood. Fill the planter box with appropriate soil and then plant the vegetables.

Apply a few coats of paint or stain to the bench to protect it from the elements.
